What is love?

Im sure this question has been asked a thousand times or more. some people say love is how they feel about their partner, or their family and friends. but, love isn't just a feeling. God is love, and the love He has for us. The fact that He let His one and only Son die so that we could spend eternity with HIm is impossible for the human mind to begin to try and grasp. What we consider love on earth versus what it really means, is not even worth trying to compare. frankly, we can't even love God the way He has loved us, but we should at least try to love everyone on earth in some similar matter. it's a waste of time to hold onto anger, when our time on earth is so small when matched against eternity in heaven.
